Earlier we were aware about Xiaomi is coming with new version of its MIUI 12 Release Date on April 27 2020. Xiaomi has now come with new interface, a host of animations, privacy, health features, and much more.
MIUI 12 also pays attention to improving the Principles of the interface and the new interface comes with a new animations and redesigned elements. MIUI 12 comes with new a flatter and more seamless UI without losing on the quality.
MIUI 12 New Features
Animations in MIUI 12:
Let us talk about the first MIUI 12 new features, it is animation. Almost every system animation has been improved. Xiaomi claims these animations are on part with the smooth transition in iOS.
Everything from app launching and closing, screen rotation, and opening the Recents menu to a new charging animation, battery stats, new live wallpapers, checking tasks in Notes, or rearranging icons on the home screen, this indicates Xiaomi has worked on everything afresh.
Navigation Gestures in MIUI 12:
The second feature is Navigation Gesture. MIUI is the first Custom Android to adopt navigation gestures, but these have differed from the iOS-like navigation gestures announced with Android 10.
With MIUI 12, Xiaomi is also reworking the navigation gestures, and these will now work exactly like the Android 10.
Xiaomi has opted to introduce Android 10-like navigation gestures. In other words, we will get a flat line on the bottom of the display. Swiping up will take us on a home screen, swiping up and holding will launch the Recents menu.
Flatter, cleaner UI
This feature is visually more cleaner, with wider spaces between different texts or images and a brighter white background.
It also gets a whole lot of new visual elements to complement the information it shows. It also came with a brighter white background if you’re using a light mode, of course.
Live wallpapers and AOD
Xiaomi has added quite new live wallpapers and AOD screen in MIUI 12. These are extensively inspired by landscapes of the Earth, the Moon, and Mars.
The live wallpaper zooms in from a space-level view to an aerial view just a few hundred meters above the surface when we unlock our phone.
This is a rather interesting spin on a live wallpaper. When we open a folder, the wallpaper zooms in closer to the surface and out when you exit the folder.
Privacy Features
MIUI 12 has also come with some privacy features which are called Flare, Barbed Wire, and Mask System.
Flare
This feature keeps a lot of all permissions and sensitive information accessed by apps. It will notify you when needed in different colors, depending on what aspect of the phone a particular app is using.
Barbed wire
This feature works like the location permission in Android, asking us to allow location, microphone, or camera access with the options to allow only once, allow every time, or reject the app’s request.
Mask system
Mask System is important MIUI 12 New Features in respect of user privacy. This system prevents us from untrusted app that can access our confidential information such as contacts, call logs, IMEI, etc. This also indicate us if someone is trying to capture our information without our permission.
AI calling & fitness features
One of MIUI 12 New Features is AI calling feature which is similar to Google’s screen calling. It is designed for people with hearing disabilities. Fitness feature is also added but the information about this is not yet revealed.
MIUI 12 has started beta tester program in china today but still it is not confirmed when it will launch for the Global market.
Multi-Window Picture in Picture mode
With this feature, users will be able to chat while watching video or using some other app. This is much required feature update & next step towards multi-tasking on phone.

When will we get MIUI 12?
If you have any of Xiaomi Phone from above list, you will get MIUI 12 update in phased manner and newest phones will get update at the end of June 2020 and older phones like Redmi Note 5 will get the update in last batch.
