Xiaomi, as promised, announced its MIUI 12, the latest version of Android-based ROM, for the global markets. As expected, the update is a major one and brings tons of changes to the UI.
This update brings new system animations. It is a new rendering engine which enables “advanced color blending and real-time Gaussian blur.”It also got the redesigned Weather app that will now show all weather conditions in a real-time manner on the screen along with tons of visualization updates.

Universal Casting
This will support universal casting to TVs and displays that supports Miracast. It is revealed that we can do everything by using a Phone Videos, games, docs, apps and more.
Moreover, private messages we receive while casting the screen will not be shown on the big screen. We can also exit the cast screen from your phone and go somewhere else, and it won’t impact the casting process.
Floating windows:
These are not just for messaging apps. We can also make a game float on the main screen while it’s loading or keep a video in a floating window while you do a quick Google search.
The floating windows aren’t bubble-shaped like we see with Facebook Messenger and the likes. Instead, it forms a small rectangular window in the corner and may cover part of the app you’re on.
Animation Render Engines:
It enables advanced color blending and real-time Gaussian blur. We can see various degrees of blurring effect when the light penetrates different materials.
The new rendering engine also introduces a G2 continuity curve which allows the interface to fit the hardware seamlessly.
Weather App:
Swipe the screen to see weathers in different cities as you see in the real world! Rain, sunshine, snow, and instantaneous weather changes are all displayed in a real-time manner on your screen, helping you capture the fleeting moments of beauty.
Lifelike Animations & Visuals:
This is full of lifelike animations. find details in our layered icons, subtle effects, and user interactions. Sparks burst out in celebration of your task completion and the uninstallation of apps becomes joyful as other apps bounce to wave goodbye. The visualized UI allows you to understand the status of the system at a glance efficiently. Touch to feel the real interactive experience!

Super Wallpapers and Casting:
The Super wallpapers break the boundaries of space. Every time when we enter home screen, we are taking a tour on the Martian surface. As we swipe through the Home screen, we can even see the planet spin.
Most of us have never seen Mars that close, but now it’s just one swipe away. This brings a Home screen, Lock screen, and Always-on display together into one united and immersive experience.
The universal casting tool that enables you to cast everything much more conveniently with your phone. Private casting secures that your personal messages and calls stay only in your phone screen. You can also minimize the presenting window and do something else.
Multitasking:
It has Introduced Floating windows to enable perfect multitasking on phones. Now you don’t have to switch between apps when you’re multitasking a few things on your phone. You can open and close a window in a single tap. You can also minimize a window and hang it on one of the corners when you are working on another window.
Ultra-Battery Saver & Dark Mode:
This has now introduced Ultra Battery Saver to enable your phone work five times longer on standby when there’s only 5% power left.
Last year, it introduced Dark mode on MIUI 11, which has been working perfectly with system apps. Now it did the adaptation for all third-party apps, allowing you to enjoy a universal dark mode on your phone.
Enhanced Privacy Protection:
Now with the matured and evolved system, it has taken a step further to address your privacy concerns. For some sensitive app behaviors, including background-running Camera, Microphone, and Location, we introduced a new Permission Notification feature.
When the camera, microphone, and location are running in the background, a bright notification icon will be shown on the status bar. By tapping these notification icons, you can disable the permissions in a tap.
How to install MIUI 12 Update?
